This is the first installment of Brad’s blog. I have been trout fishing in the Iowa driftless region since 1975. My love and passion for the area and fly fishing motivated me to create Driftless Dreamers, LLC. Like many of you during the long winter months, I often count the days until spring when the snow and cold are a faded memory and many of us are back doing the activities we love. My vision for Driftless Dreamers, LLC is to offer guided fly-fishing trips designed for the novice angler. I recently retired and during many of my travels for work the conversation on Mondays was always the same. How was your weekend? What did you do? When I shared with them that I have a place in the Driftless region in Northeast Iowa and I love to fly fish. The response was always the same. "I would love to do that, it looks so cool, but I do not know the first thing about it or where to go." That got me thinking, why not create an opportunity for folks to try fly fishing by providing the full gear and basic instruction that hopefully results in a very successful and enjoyable day on the water.
I decide to limit the group size to two people and to only do one half day outing per day. The benefit for the customer is that allows more one on one instruction and if the fish cooperate, we will not be rushed due to time constraints. To maximize resources, we will be only doing guided trip in Northeast Iowa. This allows less travel time and more time with lines in the water. For your convenience we are also utilizing a self-booking tool that allows the customer to pick what dates work for them. This is a unique go to market strategy, but I realize life is busy and everyone is trying to plan accordingly.
